Aladdin

A Christman Pantomime

Directed by Sue Farmer

Produced by Steve England

Aladdin has always been a pantomime favourite and is one of the oldest. Aladdin was first performed as a dramatization of the Arabian Nights tale in Theatre Royal, Covent Garden as early as 1788. Based on a story from the Thousand and One Nights, its plot charts the fortunes of a lazy son of a poor washerwoman who is tricked by an evil sorcerer to find a magic oil lamp. In the end and after some unfortunate events, Aladdin becomes the beneficiary of the magic and the wealth it brings. And of course he marries the princess!
